On Tuesday July, 21 2026 the Trustees of Hiram Township passed Resolution 2026-020 which submmitted a Fire and EMS agreement to the Village of Hiram. It is readable here

Representatives of the Village of Hiram and Hiram Township met in mediation on Friday, September 4, 2026 to discuss the future direction and operation of the fire department. Both parties shared their issues and concerns and exchanged meaningful information with the other. Significant progress was made with the assistance of the mediator, and both parties are pleased with the status of discussions. A future meeting is being planned, and both parties are hopeful that a resolution can be reached. However, in the interim and pursuant to the instruction of the mediator, neither party will comment further on the status of their discussions or proposals that were made. The parties simply request that the public be patient and let the process take its natural course toward conclusion.

The Hiram Township Trustees will hold a special meeting for mediation with Hiram Village on Thursday October 8th at 11:00am at the Portage County Prosecutors Office in Ravenna.
